Welcome to the Sri Lankan Association at Mississippi State University.

​

Sri Lanka is a small island nation, which is often referred to as the "pearl of the Indian ocean". Also known by the historic name “Ceylon".  Sri Lanka is home to about 20 million people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds.  According to the ancient historical shreds of evidence, Sri Lankan history is spanning over 2500 years and Sri Lanka has a rich Buddhist heritage which has been over the generations. Sri Lanka is well famous for its world heritage sites, golden beaches, pristine natural beauty, colorful festivals (Kandy perahara), wildlife and warm hospitality which attracts thousands of tourists throughout the year.

As Sri Lankans, at Mississippi State University we are dedicated to maintain our identity, share our culture, heritage and help each other in our community. We would like to inspire and bring together individuals who wish to promote rich Sri Lankan culture and traditions in Mississippi State University.

​The people of Sri Lanka possess a warm and friendly nature reflected in persistent smiling faces and very hospitable.

Our Mission

Our mission is to establish an enthusiastic atmosphere at MSU, organizing Sri Lankan traditional events and to share information about the Sri Lankan culture with the MSU community.
